Toyota’s C-HR Interior is Out of This World

Back in 2014, Toyota Motor Corp. stunned the world with its futuristic CH-R, or Coupe High-Rider concept. The edges and contours make it look more spaceship than CUV. Many professionals within the automotive industry have made assurances that this was just a concept car and that it would never hit production. However, Toyota remains determined to set the record straight, having just revealed the interior of the CH-R in June 2016.

Black leather and a blue swatch run across the length of the dash. The upholstery mimics the dash design and everything looks like it’s time traveled decades from the future that grace your eyes wherever you look at it. Toyota has also assured us that the blue accents from the concept will also be offered in dark grey, and brown color scheme options with the possibility of others to follow before the vehicle hits dealerships in the near future. The head unit of the CH-R sits at the very top center of the dash with a slight angle towards the driver for a more commanding view, and features Toyota’s latest multi-media ’16 navigation platform complete with various apps and enhanced connectivity.

2016 Toyota RAV4 Interior Compared to 2016 Honda CR-V Interior

                            2016 Toyota RAV4 Interior                          2016 Honda CR-V Interior

With seating for up to five passengers and some of the latest in connectivity features as standard, the 2016 Honda CR-V interior certainly seems like it’s good enough for Manhattan drivers. We’ve looked extensively at this crossover in our 2016 CR-V comparison, however, and we think it has a tough time standing up to some of its top competitors.

With competition like the 2016 Toyota RAV4, it’s easy to see how the 2016 Honda CR-V interior features and cargo specs could fall short. Let’s take a closer look at what sets the cabins of these two crossovers apart.

Standard Cabin Features

Many drivers look to vehicles like the RAV4 and the CR-V as family vehicles, and that means you’ll be spending quite a bit of time in the cabin. Whether driving around the kids and their friends or running errands solo, it’s important for the interior of a modern crossover to be well-appointed, keeping you comfortable and connected behind the wheel.

When it comes to features, the RAV4 delivers:

  • Standout 2016 Honda CR-V interior features include Bluetooth for phone and audio and a 5-inch LCD display screen, but its four-speaker stereo system and lack of advanced connectivity like Siri Eyes Free on the base trim causes it to lag behind.
  • The 2016 RAV4 has Bluetooth as well, features a 6.1-inch touchscreen display with the Toyota Entune infotainment system, and plays your soundtrack through a six-speaker stereo system. Drivers can find features like Siri Eyes Free, Scout GPS Link, HD radio, and more on the Entune Audio Plus Package.

Not only does Toyota’s crossover offer more in the way of standard cabin tech features, but it also gives drivers an option for a package upgrade for improved connectivity – going for the CR-V interior upgrades forces drivers to spring for higher trim levels for more advanced connectivity options.

Cargo Space

After comfort and connectivity, versatility should be a top priority for a crossover shopper. The 2016 Honda CR-V interior features a 60/40 split-folding rear seat to easily expand the cargo area into part or all of the second row… but so does the Toyota. The RAV4 also offers more cargo space overall, both standard and with the rear seats folded down.
  • CR-V Cargo: Lift up the hatch to the CR-V and you’ll find 37.2 cubic feet of space behind the second row; if you need more room, the cargo hold expands to as much as 70.9 cubic feet.
  • RAV4 Cargo: Toyota’s crossover offers more space, with standard cargo volume of 38.4 cubic feet, expanding to 73.4 cubic feet.

It might seem like a small difference, but a cubic foot can mean the difference between having enough room for your things and all the kids’ school gear in the back. In the CR-V, you could end up with a purse or briefcase on your lap for the commute.

Feel the Comfort of RAV4 Seating

We’ve touched on a few of the key differences between the 2016 Honda CR-V interior and the 2016 Toyota RAV4, but we saved a very important point for last: seat comfort. You see, we can’t just tell you that the RAV4’s seats are comfortable enough that you’ll linger behind the wheel after driving home from work – you need to feel that.

Contact Little Apple Toyota Honda to take the RAV4 for a test drive and see for yourself how spacious, technologically advanced, and comfortable it is.

Anticipating the 2017 Toyota 86 Release Date

Fans of the recently discontinued Scion FR-S will be pleased to know that the sports coupe is returning under a different name. Until now, the Toyota 86 was essentially the same car as the FR-S but only offered for sale in Japan. It will soon be available on the American market and will feature the style, performance, and fun that drivers came to love about the much-missed FR-S, along with some added perks. In advance of the 2017 Toyota 86 release date this fall, learn what to expect from this sporty little car.

Style

The look of the 2017 Toyota 86 has been updated and now features LED headlights and taillights, as well as a modified front and rear end. This new design is bold to say the least, and it features a lot more accents and flourishes than drivers are used to seeing from Toyota models. If you’re looking for a car that makes a statement anywhere and everywhere it rolls, expect the new Toyota 86 to make that statement loudly.

Performance

Total performance output has also been improved. Under the hood, you’ll find a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder that produces 205 hp and 158 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers are up by 5 hp and 8 lb-ft over last year’s FR-S. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission for greater driver control, and thanks to the small size and finely retuned suspension, the Toyota 86 should deliver a thrilling driving experience on winding roads.

Interior

The 2017 Toyota 86 will sport an upscale cabin highlighted by Toyota Grandlux material on the instrument panel and door trim. The plush front seats will be accented by silver contrast stitching, and the new sport steering wheel will incorporate audio and cruise controls. Other features to get excited about include HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity, remote keyless entry, and a remote trunk release.

The 2017 Toyota 86 Release Date is Right Around the Corner

It won’t be long before you’ll be able to climb behind the wheel of this car and put it to the test on the road. When you’re ready to take the test drive of your life, head to Little Apple Toyota Honda at 2828 Amherst Avenue, Manhattan, KS. Contact our team to find out when it’s going to arrive.

Strong Reviews for the 2016 Toyota Highlander

For families requiring a refined three-row crossover SUV that delivers confident performance, a functional and spacious cabin, and comfortable ride quality, the 2016 Toyota Highlander is a top contender. Critics are in agreement, which is made clear in the overwhelmingly positive 2016 Toyota Highlander reviews. See what they praised about this model before making your own conclusions at Little Apple Toyota Honda.

Performance

Edmunds: “The 2016 Toyota Highlander, which represents the third year of the model’s current generation, remains a top contender among family-friendly crossover SUVs. For buyers repelled by minivans or those who don’t need a V8-powered toy-hauling behemoth, the three-row Highlander hits the sweet spot, offering front- or all-wheel-drive, a choice of four-cylinder or V6 engines, and five distinct trim levels, each with a successively longer list of features.”

The Toyota Highlander provides the kind of driving experience you want from a crossover SUV—confident and powerful all at once. The driving dynamics are incredibly compliant for everything from daily commutes to long road trips. Those who want plenty of power can get it from a 3.5L V6 engine that makes 270 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque, and tows up to 5,000 pounds with the help of the newly standard towing package.

Features

Kelley Blue Book: “The 2016 Toyota Highlander places and emphasis on safety, comfort, economy, reliability, and resale. Its sharp exterior and numerous interior features are simply icing on the cake.”

If features are the icing on the cake, then that’s a lot of icing. Every Toyota Highlander gets Bluetooth, a 6.1-inch touchscreen interface, a rearview camera, cruise control, and exterior features like 18-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. On higher trim levels, you can get tri-zone climate control, advanced smartphone integration via the Entune App Suite, a navigation system, leather upholstery, heated first- and second-row seats, and the Driver Technology package to help you avoid collisions.
